Cardiff Zumba Clothing - What to wear during a class
Any type of clothes can be worn when participating in a Zumba class as long as you are comfortable and cool - sweat pants, shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, sports vests, tracksuit bottoms etc. Please avoid wearing jeans, skirts, dresses or high heels. You will also be more comfortable if your hair is tied back and out of the way. Remove all jewellery too to avoid the risk of injury. When it comes to footwear, studio or dance shoes are probably best. The important thing is that they have little tread but still provide you with adequate support. Some trainers/running shoes are not suitable.
It may be worth mentioning to the sales person when purchasing your shoes that you will be starting a Cardiff Zumba class which involves a lot of dance moves. Please remember that you will increase your chance of injury should you wear running shoes to class. If the bottom of the shoe looks like a tire tread, assume that that type of shoe is unsuitable. You will be heavily relying on the balls of your feet for movement and any shoe with too much grip will stop you doing any pivot or smooth side-to-side steps effectively. If you are unsure about what to wear, contact your nearest Cardiff personal trainer who can assess whether or not the shoes you have got will be suitable for a Zumba class.
The prevention of injury is vitally important as well as ensuring you are comfortable throughout your workout. Maracas are commonly used within a Zumba class. These are optional and can be purchased online. For a more effective workout, one can also purchase weighted maracas for more resistance during your workout. It is worth contacting your nearing Cardiff Zumba instructor before purchasing your own maracas to determine whether or not they are already included in the class.
